Pak troops continue ceasefire violation; Army jawan killed

An Army jawan was shot dead by Pakistani sniper in Poonch district along the Line of Control as troops of the neighbouring country continued targeting Indian positions in the region on Thursday night using mortar shells.
The indiscriminate firing from across the border was still on till the last reports came in. It was the fourth ceasefire violation by the Pakistani troops in the past 32 hours. “Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing on forward posts along LoC in Krishna Gati Sector in Poonch at 1815 hours today,” a Defence Spokesman said.
Troops guarding the LoC are responding appropriately and no casualty or damage has been reported till now, he said adding that further details being ascertained.
As per the reports, Pakistani troops fired mortar shells from their Daku, Roza and <g data-gr-id="22">Chooha</g> posts manned by 620 Mujahid Regiment on four Indian posts. Earlier, an Army jawan was killed in sniper fire by Pakistan troops who targeted forward posts in Poonch district. Sepoy <g data-gr-id="23">Rachpal</g> Singh was critically injured in sniper fire by Pakistani troops at a forward post in Poonch along the LoC last night, a police officer said on Thursday.
Singh, who belonged to <g data-gr-id="26">22-Sikh</g> unit, later succumbed to his injuries. He was guarding Parvinder post when the incident occurred. This is the third incident of sniper attack by Pakistani troops along the LoC this month. Two BSF jawans were killed in similar incidents along LoC in Kashmir Valley.
