Hours before Monday’s Indo-Pak flag meeting to reduce tension along the Line of Control (LoC), Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire again, this time targeting Indian posts in Poonch Sector of Jammu district. Pakistan troops opened fire on Indian posts in Nangitikri forward area along the LoC in the afternoon and Indian troops guarding the borderline retaliated, as per Army sources. According to reports, at the flag meeting, the Indian side is expected to strongly protest the Pakistani intrusion and the beheading of a soldier besides demanding the return of the severed head believed to have been carried by Pakistani army regulars as a trophy after the killing of two soldiers on 8 January. ‘Brigade Commanders’ flag meeting will be held on Monday at Chakan-Da-Bagh LoC point in Poonch Sector at noon,’ PRO, Defence, Col R K Palta said. Pakistan agreed for the flag meeting in a communication through a hotline in the sector, Palta said.
