Paintings worth Rs 12 crores stolen from Ram Kumar’s studio in east Delhi

The incident was reported to the police by Ram Kumar’s son on Sunday, when the family was about to shift some of the his best pieces from the basement studio. ‘It was reported that three particular paintings were found missing. It is not clear as to when the paintings were stolen which has proven to be a big hurdle in the investigation,’ said a police official.

He further said, ‘they had no CCTV cameras installed in the basement where such expensive paintings were kept. We are interrogating people and we shall soon crack this case.’

On Sunday, three paintings worth Rs 4 crore each were found missing from Ram Kumar’s basement studio in his east Delhi residence. The stolen canvases belonged to his signature series ‘Sad Town’ painted in the year 1956 which were last put on display four years ago.
