Oxygen supplier to Sushrut Trauma Centre blacklisted

A month after the tragedy that occurred due to short supply of oxygen in Sushrut Trauma Centre’s tragedy, Delhi government and the health department have blacklisted. PES Installation Pvt. Ltd. for not following standard procedure and failing in its duty to ensure safe supply of oxygen to ICU and for deploying untrained persons.
Delhi health minister A K Walia told media persons on Tuesday that the Delhi government constituted a committee to enquire into the deaths of four patients admitted in the ICU of Sushrut Trauma Centre on 4 December 2012. the committee has come to the conclusion that PES Installation is accountable and responsible for the lapses. Further, the company has been debarred from participating in any tender process or contract agreement with any of the government hospitals or health institutions with respect to oxygen supply for two years.
Walia also said an FIR has also been lodged against the company under various sections of the IPC.
Walia has instructed the health department to follow the procedures strictly while appointing contractors. He has also instructed the department to keep a close eye on the day-to-day functioning of the hospital contractors in order to avoid any mishap.
