Overwhelming support for government formation: AAP

After the first of its kind referendum conducted by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to seek people’s views on government formation in the national capital, party convener Arvind Kejriwal on Monday announced that an overwhelming majority of Delhiites gave a thumps up to the move. ‘We got responses from the citizens through websites, phone calls, SMSes and by holding public meetings and most of them favoured government formation by AAP,’ Kejriwal told reporters at AAP’s office in Kaushambi here. He said that the party held 280 public meetings across Delhi and in 257 such gatherings people favoured formation of government by the party, while the rest said that they it should not come to power. ‘We got 6,97,310 reactions through SMSes and the internet and after culling duplicate numbers and IDs we received opinions from 5,23,183 people. Out of which 2,65,966 are from Delhi and 1,97,086, which is 74 per cent, said that the party should form a government,’ said Manish Sisodia, senior AAP leader.
