‘Over 30,000 posts under DSSSB are lying vacant’

Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta on Wednesday alleged Delhi government and MLAs of Aam Aadmi Party were creating ‘confusion’ among the public by saying that Chief Minister does not have the rights to appoint <g data-gr-id="34">peon</g> and stenographer.

He argued that transfer and posting of over 99 per cent officers in Delhi come under Delhi Chief Minister and he needs to seek approval of Lieutenant Governor for only 40-50 senior IAS officers of Secretary and Principal Secretary level.

“Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB)  completely comes under Delhi government which recruited the officers of group B, C and D. These officers completely come under Delhi government including their transfer and posting. DSSSB also recruits officers for MCDs but there are over 30,000 posts lying vacant and <g data-gr-id="26">government</g> is not serious about them,” said Gupta in the Assembly. He alleged that the government is not serious to fill up those vacancies. Gupta also called the resolution adopted by the House as illegal and unconstitutional.

“You have <g data-gr-id="17">majority</g> so you can pass anything in this <g data-gr-id="18">House</g> but the fact is that the notification is just a clarification of the present legal and constitutional status,” argued Gupta.

He further said since Union Territories’ cadre is shared by a group of UTs, a single UT can’t be given sole right on entire cadre. “You don’t have the power to legislate on ‘Services’ matter until Delhi is declared a state,” said Gupta opposing the proposal of the House to constitute NCT Public Service.
