Over 2 lakh sqm land freed from encroachers

The officials freed lakhs of square meters of land along the Hindon River and destroyed hundreds of under construction illegal colonies. Around 100 officials with 10 JCBs, 2 cranes and 10 dumpers reached the site to remove illegal structures.

The officials claimed that they razed illegal structures on more than two lakh square meters of land. Officials also informed that land sharks had encroached the lands of Lakhanwali village, which falls on the banks of Hindon rivers.

‘Plots are being sold in unauthorised illegal colonies. The sellers even claim it to be approved housing plots in its advertisements in media. In some cases they have even named the project to lure the people,’ said an official.

He also informed that the decision to start this drive was taken following the reports of large-scale encroachment on river bed. He further added that they are planning to continue the drive in the coming days also. ‘We will continue the drive against land encroaches,’ said Rajesh Prakash, deputy chief executing officer of Noida Authority.

Meanwhile, FIRs have also been registered against few named and unnamed colonisers to initiate penal action against them.
