Orientation programme being organised for Delhi lawmakers

Delhi assembly Speaker MS Dhir said that the need for the orientation programme was felt as 45 out of 70 MLAs are first timers, hence, are not well versed with the House procedures and rules of business of the House.

‘So, we felt that we should organise an orientation programme for them to equip them with basic knowledge about functioning of the legislative assembly,’ Dhir said.

Dhir further explained that the programme will prove beneficial for the MLAs. They will refamiliarise themselves with the procedures like raising of questions, raising of issues relating to the problems of their constituency during the Zero Hour.

The two days programme will be inaugurated by Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal at 2 pm on Thursday. The programme will be presided over by the Speaker himself.
