Order on 20% quota for poor in school stayed

Delhi high court stayed a notification that was made earlier by lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung reserving 20 per cent seats for students belonging economically weaker sections (EWS) in the private schools. Justice Manmohan, in an interim order staying the government notification, said, ‘It has been passed without application of mind.’  Challenging the 18 December guidelines issued by the L-G, St. Columba’s, one of the Capital’s leading schools, moved the high court saying Supreme Court had excluded minority schools from the ambit of the Right to Education Act.
