Five more lost children were sent back to their parents by the Delhi Police through their recently launched operation named Milap. With this, the police have rescued 31 children in the past 15 days, police said on Sunday.
In a joint operation with the Anti-Human Trafficking unit, the crime branch of Delhi Police checked two Children Homes in Delhi on January 2 and 3. On scrutiny of the records, the police officers zeroed down on the children whose details were incomplete or dubious. “First, these children were taken into confidence and after compassionate persuasive conversation, they revealed clues about their native places. Thereafter, their parents were contacted with the help of local police and thus 5 children were sent back to their families,” informed Ravindra Yadav, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Delhi.
The first two children that the police came across were a 10-year-old boy and a 14-year old boy, staying at the ‘Salaam Balak Trust of DMRC’ Children Home near Tis Hazari Court. They were both brought to the Children Home on December 5 from Chandni Chowk area by local police. Their parents were immediately contacted after the boys revealed their names and addresses. The boys were handed over to them through the Children Welfare Committee.
“The 10-year-old boy left home, at Johripur in Delhi, after being rebuked by his step mother for not paying proper attention to his studies,” said a police officer. He added, “The 14-year-old boy lived with mother at Agar Nagar in Delhi. He left the house after he was scolded by his mother for taking drugs,” said the police officer.
In the same children home, the police then found another boy aged 13 years. He was from a JJ cluster in outer Delhi’s Bawana. He had left home after being rebuked by parents as he was allegedly involved in petty thefts, said the officer.
The police then went to the ‘Bal Adhikar Sashaktikaran Kendra’ Children Home and found two more boys with dubious records. They were aged 12 years and 17 years respectively.
