CBSE students of class X will now have only three chances to clear all their subjects in their board exams.
The CBSE has formulated a new rule that limits the number of attempt for students who are not able to clear the exam in first attempt. From 2013 onwards CBSE has decreased the number of attempts from five to three.
Currently, a candidate placed in an ‘improvement’ bracket at the senior school examination may appear at the improvement examination to be held in July the same year and also avail himself/herself of a second chance in March/April and a third chance in July, next year. Further he /she may avail himself/herself of fourth chance in March/April and a fifth chance in July of the subsequent year. The candidate will be declared ‘PASS’ provided he/she clears the subjects in which he/she had secured E grade.
A CBSE official, who did not wish to be named, informed that ‘ from 2013 a candidate who gets ‘improvement’ at the Senior School Certificate examination may reappear at the improvement examination to be held in July the same year, may avail himself/herself of a second chance in March/April and a third chance in July thenext year. And the candidate will be declared ‘PASS’ provided he /she clears the test.’
Sources also added that ‘Syllabus and courses will remain same for the candidate appearing at the examination at the year concerned.’
