Online license portal launched by Delhi govt

The Delhi government on Thursday launched online portal of weights and measures department for granting and renewal of various licenses. The government has also done away with the system of manual applications and all of those will henceforth be received online only.

“With the launch of the online portal, the dealers, manufacturers, packers and importers would not be required to visit the office for registration and deposit of government dues,” said Imran Hussain, Minister, Food & Supplies and Legal Metrology (LM) of Delhi government. “All the licenses will be issued and renewed online,” he added. He further informed that the portal has been developed by Delhi e-Governance Society. Explaining the procedure, senior officers of the department said that the system would enable applicants to apply for new registration or for any work relating to their business by logging into the existing website of the department at any time as per their own convenience from the comforts of their home, office etc. “For the benefit of applicants, facility of filling up the form in Hindi has also been provided on the portal,” he added. Hussain said the facility of online applications and grant and renewal of various licenses will bring transparency and efficiency in the system and would help avoid unnecessary visits to the zonal offices of the department.
