One Militant killed in encounter

An encounter between militants and the army is currently going on in a remote forest area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Tuesday which left at least one militant killed, reports said. Acting on a tip off, Army’s 18, 28 Rashtriya Rifles and SOG cordoned off the upper belt of the Affan forest area Mehandiwali Behak, Lalpora in Lolab, reports said.As the troops started combing operations, the militants hiding in the forest area reportedly opened fire on forces, triggering a gun-battle.
Army and police cordoned off the area at around 5.00 pm on Tuesday and around 5:45 militants holed inside the forest area opened fire on the forces. So far one militant has been killed and the operation is still going on.
