One killed, three injured in Durgapur refrigerator blast

One person was killed and three others were injured when an old refrigerator stacked in a godown burst in Durgapur’s Newtownship area on Thursday, a police official said.
The official said a mechanic Shankar <g data-gr-id="22">Keout</g>, who used to repair old refrigerators, had stacked them in a room in the house of one Brahmadeo Majhi which he used as a godown.
<g data-gr-id="19">Keoout</g> had come with four labourers to clean the <g data-gr-id="20">godown</g> when one of the refrigerators burst. While Pappu Ram (35) died on the spot, <g data-gr-id="21">Keout</g> and two others were injured and rushed to Bardhhaman Medical College and Hospital.
Durgapur Police Commissioner Ajay Nanda and Additional Police Commissioner Subhankar <g data-gr-id="18">Maity</g> rushed to the spot. <g data-gr-id="16">Keout</g> was later detained for questioning and the room sealed off.
Nanda said a forensic team would visit the place tomorrow and would examine the cause of the blast.
