One entry/exit point at Indraprastha metro station causes long delays for commuters

Commuters at Indraprastha metro station are facing serious inconveniences, as the station only has one entry-exit point. During peak hours, people have to stand in long serpentine queues.

In such times, one has to wait in a queue for over half an hour to reach the screening area of the Indraprastha Metro station. Metro commuters complained of inconvenience caused to them due to the long waiting period.

‘Every day I take Metro from Indraprastha station. And every time I have to go through the tiring process of standing in long serpentine queues,’ said Ajay Pratap, an accounting professional form east Delhi. ‘Sometimes seeing the rush, I don’t even feel like taking the Metro’, he added. A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) official, on the condition of anonymity, said the entry and exit on the other side of the station is closed due to security issues.

The passengers however suggested that if the other side cannot be made functional then more personnel should be deployed at the screening area to tackle long queues.

‘If the DMRC can’t open the other entry and exit points, then authorities can make other arrangements like more spots for frisking of travelers to avoid the rush’, said Chetan Sharma, a 21-year-old college student.

‘There’s no point using the Metro to avoid traffic on road. We anyway have to wait in a long queue’, he added. Meanwhile, the CISF said that it has asked its staff to take measures to deal with rush on the screening area. ‘We will deploy more officers to frisk commuters to avoid rush,’ said a CISF officer.
