Oil companies restore supplies in flood-hit J&K

The Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) as part of its efforts to restore normalcy in petroleum supplies in the flood-affected areas of Kashmir, has loaded and dispatched about 400 kilolitres (kl) of petrol and 1,000 kl of diesel in tank-trucks from its Srinagar depot till Monday, for distribution in local markets. Loading operations at IOC’s Srinagar depot were resumed on 11 September in manual mode.

The bulk petroleum depot of BPC (Bharat Petroleum Corporation) at Srinagar also resumed operations on 12 September, and about 400 kl of petrol and 600 kl of diesel were dispatched from the depot till Monday. Since the HPC (Hindustan Petroleum Corporation) depot in Srinagar is yet to become operational, its petrol pumps in the flood-affected areas are receiving products from both IOC and BPC as part of hospitality arrangement.
