Officers who probed Saradha, Sheena case among CBI medalists

Officers of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), who probed Saradha scam, the high-profile Sheena Bora murder case, and corruption case involving a Noida engineer, are among 26 chosen for President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service and Police Medal for Meritorious Service.

Rajiv Singh, a 1993-batch IPS officer of Tripura cadre, has been chosen for President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service. Singh heads the Special Investigation Team probing Saradha scam and its off-shoot chit fund cases.

Lata Manoj Kumar, a 2000-batch IPS officer of Rajasthan cadre, emerged as first choice to probe high-profile Sheena Bora murder case. Kumar, who joined the agency in April last year, has been chosen for Police Medal for Meritorious Service.

Her batchmate Umesh Chander Datta, also from Rajasthan cadre, involved in investigating Sunped incident, in which two Dalit infants were killed and the mysterious death of IAS DK Ravi has also been selected for Police Medal for Meritorious Service.

NM Singh, DIG with Special Task Force of the CBI, is a direct recruit to the agency, who is handling complex corruption case involving a Noida Engineer. He has been chosen for President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service.

Other officers chosen for President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service include Joint Director Anurag Garg, Additional SPs SS Kishore and Sanjay Kewalkrishan Sareen and Deputy SP Sandip Ghosh.
