The show titled The Unbearable Closeness Of Being by Puneet Kaushik has diverse works which tackle notions of identity, individuality, otherness and marginality leading to peripatetic modes of existence, space and individual agency beyond constructs of national parameters .
Kaushik’s works ‘intimate geographies, forbidden frontiers’ are an aerial abstraction of a hypothetical space where identity, gender, race and sexuality converge.
Kaushik’s marginality and the inner naturalness hold a mirror to our deepest selves and identities. It acknowledges that our marginalities are a matter of structure and power. They are not only negotiated, situational and constructed but also can be seen as external to us individuals.
In the exhibition, Kaushik has explored the potentials of traditional techniques in the form of miniature painting, weaving, stitching, embroidery and carpet tufting to express himself and his work. The exhibition throws light on the <g data-gr-id="17">present day</g> complex gender and identity issues.
