Number of pilgrims is declining in Kedarnath

As the date of closing of Kedarnath portal is fast approaching, the number of pilgrims is also declining. Initially, after the re-opening of portals, more than 100 pilgrims were thronging to this holy place per day last month. But now the frequency is declining with every passing day.

With the festive season round the corner, the people are busy in cleaning their homes and purchasing sweets and gifts for their near and dear ones. During this time, the pilgrimage tourism always get set-back every year. Contrary to Christmas festival and New Year eve, people generally like to celebrate Diwali with their close-knit family in their own homes and avoid visiting new places.

According to Rudraprayag district information, in an average 30 to 40 pilgrims/tourists are visiting Kedarnath holy shrine per day. However, officials claimed that there are food and accommodation arrangements for 200 pilgrims in the valley at different locations.
