NRI murdered in Kalkaji

A 20-year-old NRI was beaten to death allegedly by four friends on Friday night in Kalkaji area. All four have been detained. The incident took place at around 12.30 am when Anmol Sarna went to a friend’s residence in South Park Apartment to attend a farewell party. Anmol used to stay in Hicksville in New York with his family. In January, he came to Delhi to be with his grandmother.

Ankit, Anmol’s cousin, said: ‘Anmol met his childhood friend Chikki who introduced him to three other friends. On Friday morning, Chikki asked Anmol to spend the night at his place.’ At around 12.05 am, Anil, Anmol’s father, got a missed call from Chikki. When Anil called him back, the call went unanswered. Anil got suspicious and called Anmol, but he did not respond. After 15 minutes, Chikki’s mother called Anil to tell him that his son has fallen sick after dinner and had to be rushed to AIIMS hospital.

‘When the family reached the hospital, they were informed that Anmol is dead. A 15 cm injury mark that was at least 2 inch deep was found on his head. The doctors informed them the injury mark was due to an attack by an iron rod,’ Ankit said. An investigating official said: ‘A PCR call was made by a passerby who said a young boy was lying in a pool of blood in the area. Anmol was rushed to the hospital where doctors declared him dead.’

He added during investigation, the apartment where Anmol was present before his death was searched. Blood stains were found in the apartment and all four friends have been detained.  P Karunakaran, DCP (south), said, ‘A case under section 302 (murder) of the IPC has been registered at
Kalkaji station.’
