NPSC meet stresses upon social engagement, responsibility

Stressing on social responsibility and encouraging respect for all religion and people, the 42nd annual conference of National Progressive Schools’ Conference (NPSC) was held here on Thursday. This year, the conference was based on theme of Education for Social Engagement and Responsibility.

“It is vital to ensure that education encourages knowledge and respect for other cultures, other religions and other ways of being and living,” said Ameeta Mulla Wattal, NPSC Chairperson and Principal of Springdales School, Pusa Road. The conference was attended by over 300 principals and teacher delegates of 150 NPSC schools. Also, this year eight new schools have been inducted into the organisation.

Emphasising on growing social engagement within the urban middle class, Vice-Chancellor, Dr B.R Ambedkar University, Shyam B Menon, said: “Urban middle class is reconnected with the political process in a more self conscious reflective and coherent manner. Social entrepreneurship and the prioritisation of educational aspirations of the middle class is a heartening change of our times.” The conference, which was held for two consecutive days, witnessed Shekhar Gupta as the chief guest and prominent Bollywood personality Rahul Bose speaking on the issue.

The conference was very interactive and provided rich learning and fresh perspective to all delegates and participants.
