Now, shoot at sight with ease in Delhi

In the wake of complaints from a number of Bollywood film makers, Delhi Government on Wednesday decided to simplify procedures for giving permission for shooting in various locations in the city.

Chief Secretary P K Tripathi, at a meeting, told concerned agencies to work towards developing a simplified procedure for obtaining clearance for shooting for movies and documentaries in the city.

As per existing norms, permission has to be obtained from a number of agencies including PWD, police, NDMC, MCD and Archaeological Survey of India depending on the locations as well as jurisdiction.

‘If somebody wants to shoot for a movie at a location whose jurisdiction falls under NDMC then, permission has to be taken from the civic body. If a film maker wants to shoot on a road under PWD, then he has to take permission from it,’ said an official.

In a meeting, Tripathi told Tourism department and other agencies concerned to simplify the procedure so that film makers do not find it difficult to obtain permission.

Tripathi told representatives of various departments that the film makers should be encouraged to showcase the ‘new look’ Delhi as government had spent thousands of crores in beautifying the city ahead of the Commonwealth Games.

Officials said the government had received complaints from a number of film makers that getting permission for shooting in Delhi was ‘difficult’.
