With the arrest of Sunil Rastogi, the serial rapist-cum-pedophile, who used to lure minor girls into abandoned buildings, the police now have the painstaking task of documenting every single involvement of the accused. Sunil had sexually assaulted several children in Delhi, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh and now his exploits will be recorded all over the North Indian map.
Sunil has been sent to judicial custody but in Sunday night’s interrogation, he had told the police that he has sexually assaulted 58-60 girls. The police had initially suspected him to be involved in at least 35-40 cases in Delhi and the other mentioned states but believe that the number will shoot up.
“We had interrogated him yesterday (Sunday). He had told us that he had sexually assaulted 58-60 girls, however, we do not believe his testimony. He used to frequent Delhi and would always come to the Capital only to stalk and molest these girls,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (East), Omvir Singh.
The police, now tasked with the morbid work of collecting all the victim’s statements, have contacted the local police of Rudrapur, Ghaziabad and Delhi. Further, we also found that he is also involved in similar cases in Uttaranchal as well, and we have contacted them. The local police have informed us that they are approaching their local courts for a warrant, after which they will interrogate Sunil,” Omvir added.
Sunil, a father of two boys and a girl, had told the police in his interrogation, that he had first molested a girl when he was 25 years old and was working as a tailor in New Ashok Nagar area, back in 2004.
Sunil had been thrown out from his community back in 2004. He used to reside in a JJ cluster in Kalyanpuri but after complaints of bad behaviour, he was ostracised from his home.
The police, however, are not buying the 2004 claim and are currently involved in investigating every single unsolved sexual assault case for the past 10 years.
