Be it the ravines of Madhya Pradesh, deserts of Rajasthan or the beaches of Kerala, Indian Railways connects both the heart and distance of India.
It added another feather to its cap by launching its first executive lounge located at New Delhi railway station. Taking the travel experience a step further, the lounge will come as a source of comfort for millions of passengers.
‘An international standard lounge, providing a clean and hygienic environment for in-transit and waiting passengers was required for a long time at our railways stations. We are extremely proud to present a world-class product in the form of the IRCTC Travelers’ Executive Lounge to passengers at the New Delhi Railway Station. With this, we have taken a step forward in providing world-class facilities at railway stations,’ said Rakesh Kumar Tandon, Managing Director, IRCTC.
Spread across an area of 300 square metres, the lounge is located opposite the Tourist Facilitation Centre (TFC) in the concourse area near platform No. 16 at the station. The lounge is touted to be at par with high-class facilities provided at Delhi airport which includes soundless comfortable sittings, complimentary facilities and services such as buffet meals, snacks, tea/coffee and soft beverages, 24-hours Wifi facility, luggage racks, wheel chairs, recliners for night time relaxation, televisions for train information display as well as news and sports updates, business centre with fax, printers, desktops, lockers, newspapers and magazines, usage of clean toilets and urinals and shoe shiners.
With a seating capacity for 125 persons, the lounge also offers additional services of wash and change, one-stop convenience journey solution store. The convenience retail store offers all that a passenger needs such as books, magazines, personal care products, journey solutions and travel accessories, confectionery and beverages.
‘The initial response and passenger feedback of the lounge has been highly encouraging. We aim at opening 50 more such lounges, providing world-class facilities at major railway stations in India in the near future,’ added Tandon.
The services of the IRCTC Travelers’ Executive Lounge will be available to passengers at a nominal entry fee of Rs 300 for three hours. The entry fee includes the usage of the above complimentary facilities including meals buffet, Wifi, business centre, news papers, magazines browsing, toilets, recliners etc. as a part of the package.
If the passenger wishes to extend the stay beyond three hours, Rs 125 will be charged for every additional hour. Additional services such as the wash and change, business centre and the retail convenience store will be chargeable as per usage by the passengers.
