Now JD(U) cocks a snook at Cong

Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar has given indications that it was in no mood to go with the Congress in the upcoming polls. On Monday, senior Bihar cadre IAS officer K P Ramaiah joined JD(U) amid indication that he would take on Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar in Sasaram Lok Sabha seat. Kumar is among the two Congress MPs to have been elected from the state.

Ramaiah, who was principal secretary of SC & ST department before taking VRS from service recently, took membership of Nitish Kumar’s party in the presence of its state president Basistha Narayan Singh at the party headquarters here. Ramaiah also played an important role in connecting Nitish Kumar with YSR Congress leader Jagan Mohan Reddy.  A 1986 batch officer, Ramaiah served as district magistrate of Patna and disivional commissioner of Patna and Tirhut.
