Having rolled out the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) for regular students from this academic year, the Delhi University plans to introduce the same for the School of Open Learning from next academic year.
HC Pokhriyal, executive director of the School of Open Learning (SOL) told this reporter on Monday that ‘Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) courses for the school of open learning branch of the Delhi University and for private students would be introduced from the next academic year.’
‘After the implementation of the programme from the next academic year there will not be any difference left between regular and private students,’ Pokriyal said.
When asked why the university did not implement the programme with the regular courses, he said it takes time to develop the study material as the students pursuing courses through open learning are completely dependent on it. SOL is currently running five undergraduate courses – BA programme, BCom programme, BA (Honours) English, BA (Honours) Political Science and BCom (Honours) enrolling nearly 1,50,000 students every year.
