Now, DMs to coordinate with Delhi civic agencies

Delhi government will appoint District Magistrates as ‘nodal officers’ to coordinate for de-silting and water-logging issues in the city, as the new AAP government stepped up effort to increase accountability of various civic agencies.

“The District Magistrates (deputy commissioners of revenue departments) in Delhi will act as nodal officers to coordinate with all the government agencies like MCD, public works department (PWD), flood and DSIIDC in their area,” said Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. The nodal officer will be directly responsible for water-logging related issues and will have powers to deal with it at the district level. The water logging in the city has been a major cause of concern but often results in blame game as two major agencies MCD and PWD pass the buck on each other.
