Now, Delhi police chief Bassi participates in cleanliness drive

‘A lot of dust and filth had accumulated in and around the police stations across the capital so we have directed deputy police commissioners of all the districts of city to focus on cleanliness and sanitation,’ said Bassi. He also mentioned about a meeting with the union home minister and discussing the Swachh Bharat campaign.

On Saturday, a tweet from the union home ministry instructed the Delhi Police commissioner to ensure that all police stations and other police complexes are cleaned within a week. The tweet also mentioned that the home minister may undertake a surprise visit to any police station after a week or so. Bassi ensured that he personally monitored the work. ‘Mandir Marg Police Station serves as an example for our dedication. The prime minister had visited the police station and cleaned it up and we have maintained cleanliness ever since. Our efforts are on to repeat the exercise in all police stations,’ Bassi added.

On 2 October, on his way to Valmiki Colony, prime minister Narendra Modi had paid a surprise visit to the Mandir Marg police station in order to check how clean the police station premises were. Dissatisfied, he took up a broom himself.
