Now, AAP MLA's husband booked for threatening principal

In further trouble for the Aam Aadmi party (AAP), an FIR has been lodged against the husband of the party's Shalimar Bagh MLA Bandana Kumari for allegedly building pressure on a school principal to admit a student.

"An FIR was lodged at the Shalimar Bagh police station against Sajjan Kumar (Kumari's husband) yesterday following a complaint by the principal of Sarvodaya Vidyalaya in BT Block,” said a police officer. He added: “The principal, Ranjeet Singh, said Kumar had been putting pressure on him for admitting a student... and had threatened him with dire consequences if the demand was not met."

Kumar has been booked under several Sections of the IPC. Principal Singh had also lodged a complaint with the Education Department of Delhi Government on July 8.

Singh had said that he would resign if no action was taken against Kumar. "This is to inform that I have been facing lot of political pressure for admission from Class 6 to 11, which do not come under RTE Act/departmental norms," the principal said in the complaint, titled ‘Harassment and Misbehavior by Sajjan Kumar’.

“Several people have come time and again from her (Bandana Kumari’s) office for admission and a few had also been done, which come under departmental rules... Yesterday, Sajjan Kumar called me without introducing himself as Kumari’s husband. He said that his <g data-gr-id="32">referred</g> admission had not been done in Class 10. I told him to come and meet personally. I have the audio of the same. He came to the school along with his volunteer Sanjay Mishra and started shouting,” said Singh.

He also submitted a video of the entire incident, which happened in his cabin.

However, Kumar has admitted to having visited the <g data-gr-id="30">principal,</g> but denied “threatening him”. “I did visit the principal to request him for admission of a student, who is needy and cannot get enrolled in a private school. But I did not threaten him,” he said.
