“Nobody is against full statehood of Delhi. The Prime Minister had also assured you of full cooperation to serve the people of Delhi on your historic win. Why <g data-gr-id="27">there is</g> a gap then? It’s your wrong approach. There is no sense of responsibility,” said Gupta. He also reminded the previous statement of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in which he had threatened to stall Republic Day celebrations and declared himself as “anarchist”.
Gupta also <g data-gr-id="20">flayed</g> Delhi government for not taking into consideration issues of public interest like power and unauthorised colonies but wasting time on those which could have been challenged in the court of law.
He demanded that the government appoint Lokayukta in Delhi immediately and put forth the report of Delhi Finance Commission in the House and work for the development of unauthorised colonies.
“If there was Lokayukta in Delhi, your two ministers would have received adverse observations. You came for Jan <g data-gr-id="23">Lokpal</g> but you are not appointing Lokayukta which is lying vacant since a year that too even after receiving notices from the court,” he added.
Bharti’s resolution
AAP MLA Somnath Bharti moved a private resolution in the Delhi Legislative Assembly seeking to declare it unconstitutional and invalid. “The House finds this act of Ministry of Home Affairs as an attempt on the part of the Central government to encroach upon the Legislative powers of the august House conferred by the Constitution, in a completely unconstitutional and illegal manner, by-passing Parliament and thereby even grabbing the powers of Parliament itself,” said Bharti. The House will consider the resolution on Wednesday.
