North MCD proposes to change its name

Two years since trifurcation, the North Delhi Municipal Corporation wants to retain the erstwhile name ‘Municipal Corporation of Delhi’. The civic body has proposed to change its name from North Delhi Municipal Corporation to ‘Municipal Corporation of Delhi (North)’.
The Corporation argues that the name ‘Municipal Corporation of Delhi’ or MCD was in vogue and a majority of people in Delhi could identify the civic body better with this name. A resolution to this effect has been passed by the House of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation and the Municipal Commissioner has been directed to place the preamble before the Standing Committee of the Corporation for changing its name desirably.
