North DMC also announced that it will soon build a civil engineering college to prepare engineers for the various department of the corporations in future. The location for the college has not been identified yet. Mira Aggarwal, leader of the house in NDMC said, ‘We hope to inaugurate the college within 6-8 months. We will consult the Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology and Delhi College of Engineering for the same. This college will benefit hundreds of engineering aspirants hoping to get quality education.’
The corporation also decided to raise the seats at its Hindu Rao Medical College from the existing 50 to 150 seats and to build a 200-room hostel on the campus. In order to provide education to the children of its group IV workers, NDMC plans to build a model school. ‘The school would provide education up to class 12 to the children of group IV workers,’ added Aggarwal.
The corporation is also planning to formulate a policy to provide economic meals to economically weaker sections. ‘We will launch the project in a pilot mode in six zones initially. Our aim is to provide full meals to people from EWS at Rs 8-9,’ said Aggarwal.
The corporation has also ordered its officials to start a ‘public hearing programme’ at their offices within 15 days wherein people’s complaint would be heard every Wednesday from 11 am to 1 pm in the presence of deputy commissioner.
Councillors fund has also been increased to Rs 3.01 crore for the urban areas and Rs 3.5 crore for the rural areas, other than that the councillors would be given Rs 25,000 per month to hold meetings in their respective constituencies.
