North corporation gets 6,585 compliants in 2012-13, none solved

North Delhi Municipal Corporation (North DMC) could not settle even a single complaint out of the 6,585 complaints it received from April 2012 to 28 February 2013.

‘The vigilance department of the corporation received 6,585 complaints regarding unauthorised construction, illegal hoarding and factory licensing out of which five complains were found false and action is being taken in rest of the cases,’ said P K Gupta, Commissioner of North DMC. In a written reply to the short notice by Leader of Opposition Mukesh Goel the commissioner has accepted that 676 complaints were received in January and February alone.

‘Out of these 676 complaints 132 complaints were sent to deputy commissioners concerned for action and nine cases are being investigated by vigilance department,’ added Gupta in the written statement.

Giving the details of these complaints, the department revealed that among these complaints 10 were received from Chief Minister’s Office, 11 from MLAs, 13 from councillors, eight from chairman standing committee, five from mayor, one from deputy mayor, two from opposition and rest were received directly from grieved persons.

However, the commissioner accepted that over 700 cases are being investigated at various level but he refused to give any time frame to complete the proceedings. In this period the vigilance department instituted 81 cases said Gupta.

‘It shows that the officers of the corporation don’t take the complaints of even mayor, deputy mayor and opposition. There is no procedure to inform the public about action on their complaints,’ alleged Goel demanding detail inquiry report in the matter.
