Nominations of 210 candidates rejected

Nomination papers of 900 candidates, including those from Congress, BJP and AAP, for the 4 December assembly polls for 70 constituencies, were accepted after scrutiny on Tuesday, while that of 210 rejected.

The rejections were due to faults in their applications. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is 20 November, said Delhi chief electoral officer Vijay Dev.

In the three-cornered assembly election, Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit (New Delhi), BJP’s nominee for top post Harsh Vardhan (Krishna Nagar) and AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal (New Delhi) are in the fray.

The 900 candidates whose nominations have been accepted include 75 from AAP, 70 from Congress, 69 from BSP, 68 from BJP, 10 from CPI, nine from NCP and three from CPI(M).

Besides them, there are 296 independent candidates and 300 from other political parties. BJP has fielded candidates in 66 seats, leaving four to its ally SAD.

Candidates from Samajwadi party have filed candidates in 30 constituencies while NCP has filed nominations in 13 seats.
