The University of Delhi (DU) has changed nomenclature of few courses which were under Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP), after it was passed in the academic and executive council meeting held on Saturday here. Further, the restructured courses were passed in both the councils.
‘Restructured courses have been passed by both the councils. Also, as directed by University Grants Commission (UGC) to offer only those courses which are gazetted, few courses names have been changed,’ said Abha Dev, member of executive council, DU.
B.Tech in Humanities is now B.A. (Hons) in Humanities, Masters of mathematic education as MSc in mathematic education, Master of International Business (MIB) will be MBA (IB) and Master of Human Resource and Organisational Development (MHROD) as MBA (HRD).
‘The nomenclature and the restructured courses were passed with three dissents,’ said sources.
‘But some members complain that they weren’t consulted before passing the courses.
‘Environment Studies course content has been decided by UGC and when we objected, it wasnt heard,’ said Rajiv Jha, member of academic council, DU.
‘The habit of denying time to the members of the AC and EC to apply their mind by convening emergent meetings, and providing the detailed agenda only a few hours before the meeting, has remained unchanged,’ said Nandita Narain, Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA). After all the tussle over FYUP and delaying of admission process, DU will begin its classes from 21 July.
