In what can possibly bring relief to thousands of commuters travelling between Delhi and Noida, the authority has approached Capital’s traffic police for a signal free drive between two cities via
Noida Gate.
The Noida Authority has asked Delhi Traffic Police to remove red light signals between Noida Gate and Mahamaya flyover, which witnesses massive jam. Lakhs of commuters, especially office goers use the three-kilometre-long stretch everyday. The situation becomes worse during peak hours.
The decision was taken by the authority after consulting Noida Traffic Police, so that ‘they could ensure smooth vehicular movement throughout the day’, said a senior government official.
Notably, the carriage way between both cities is considered as key route for commuting between Noida, Greater Noida and New Delhi as more that three lakh vehicles ply daily on it.
Generally, the traffic personnels face difficulty as vehicles from all sides blocks the area. The Noida traffic officials have blamed their Delhi counterparts for the ‘mess’ and sought their cooperation on the matter.
‘Once the red-light will be removed, the commuters will take underpass at Ashok Nagar which will ease the traffic burden in the city,’ said RN Mishra, Superitendent of Police (Traffic) in Noida.
According to authority official, they have written a letter in this regard to Delhi Traffic police.
Once the signal is removed, a divider will be constructed to ensure uninterrupted movement of vehicles, said Mishra.
