The fair is an annual art, craft and trade fair that has been receiving remarkable response for the last four years. This year the event promises to be bigger and better than previous fairs.
Organised by Noida Authority, in association with Uttar Pradesh Tourism Ministry, the Shilpotsav is increasingly becoming popular. This year 400 artists and craftsmen will be showcasing their art and craft in stalls during the 10 day gala that would begin on 24 October and will go on till 2 November.
The main attractions would be 130 stalls from across India, 100 stalls showcasing handlooms and 50 handicraft products from various states of the country. For the first time, 100 stalls have been allotted to adventure and sports products.
Sanjeev Saran, principle secretary (toursim), said, ‘It is the best part of the year and festivity is in the air. Diwali is also round the corner and we think it is the best time to organise such an event where people from the city and other parts like Delhi and Ghaziabad can come and enjoy the environment.’
Rama Raman, CEO, Noida Authority is also hoping for a positive response from the Shipotsav. He said, ‘The Shipotsav is steadily gaining momentum. The number of participants is increasing. While last year there were 300 artists, this year there is a jump of 100 artists who are participating in the fair.’
The security of the visitors as well as stalls has been a serious concern. Yogesh Kumar, SP (city) said that the event would be under the watchful eyes of police personnel. 5 inspectors, 25 Sub-Inspectors and 100 constables would be deployed at the stadium to take extra care of the safety of the visitors and participants. He added that to handle eve-teasing and lost and found cases, a patrolling party has been formed.
Bollywood biggies like singers Sona Mahapatra and Udit Narayan, actor Ravi Kishan, renowned Punjabi pop singer Ashok Masti and famed Manipuri dancer Deboleena Paul would enthrall the audience with their live performances.
