In a bid to curb pollution in the city, Noida Authority is planning to implement the concept of ‘timing reshuffling’ in schools, industries, corporate offices to ensure a pollution free city. The concept is likely to be implemented from January 2016 onwards.
The District Magistrate N P Singh headed a meeting on Saturday in which Rama Raman, CEO Noida Authority along with all the stakeholders participated and gave their suggestions for the implementation of the plan. The drive will be carried out in the entire Gautam Budh Nagar and will be jointly conducted by the district administration and the development authorities. “We are thinking of reshuffling the timings of schools, industries, corporate offices and IT companies. With the help of this concept, the number of vehicles will be reduced from the roads. This step will encourage people to use public transport in order to reach their respective destination,” said Raman. For this, public transport system — Metros and buses — will have to be strengthened, he added.
Raman said that the traffic in the city will be categorised into corporate, schools, industries, real estate, media, colleges, with timing of the respective institution reshuffled or slightly changed so that traffic burden at a point of time at one location will be reduced.
Explaining the details Singh said that idea is to reduce pollution. Timing reshuffling is an option to achieve the desired results. “We are planning to divide Noida into zones and will chalk out Noida’s pollution zone-wise. There is a need to address each zone specifically,” said Singh. Noida Authority, transport department, UP roadways, Pollution Control Department, Confederation of Real Estate Developers Associations of India, Bus Operators Association, Industries Association, and auto rickshaw Unions participated in the meeting.
