Noida holi party ends in death of junior engineer

A holi party at an under-construction building in Noida, went awry on Sunday night, when one of the revellers was found dead under mysterious circumstances. Acting on the complaint of the victim’s family, police has registered a case of murder, and detained five of the victim’s friends in the case.

Ravindra Singh, a junior engineer in a construction company was partying with over half-a-dozen of his colleagues at the under-construction building in sector 134, Noida on Sunday evening, where they had been deployed for work. According to his friends, during the party, Singh slipped over the railings and fell down, and was severely injured. His colleagues rushed him to the nearby JS Hospital, where he died late in the night. The police immediately detained his colleagues, also junior engineers in the same company and working at the same site, a Jaypee Group project. On Monday morning, the victim’s relatives alleged, that Singh had suffered injuries  on the back of his head and knees and claimed that his colleagues had murdered him. Based on a written complaint by his brother,  the police has registered a case of murder. 'A case of murder has been registered and we are waiting for the postmortem examination report before we start further investigation in the case,' said Preetinder Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police, Noida. The victim, Ravindra Singh, hailed from Palwal in Haryana. He had recently got engaged and was to be married on 14 July. Police has recovered wine bottles and used glasses from the spot.
