NOIDA, Greater NOIDA, YEIDA peg budget expenditure at Rs 20,100cr

With major allocation on infrastructural development especially for Metro expansion, the three industrial development authorities of Gautam Buddh Nagar — NOIDA, Greater NOIDA and Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) — on Monday planned to spend over Rs 20,100 crore for the financial year 2016-17. The authorities have also allocated a major share for rural development and compensation to farmers whose lands have been acquired and fresh acquirements for various government and real estate projects.
The authorities, during their annual budget announcement on Monday said that priority has been given on completion of Metro rail projects in pipelines, construction of underpasses, foot-over bridges, flyovers and elevated stretches to facilitate smooth vehicular movement across the region. Emphasis has also been given to improve water and sewer connectivity in every household, ensure round-the-clock power, improve drainage system, enhance road transport and parking. The authorities have also announced a series of new projects and to built new houses under “Samajwadi Awas Yojana”.
The Noida Authority, which unveiled a budget of Rs 9,056 crore in its 188th Board Meeting, allocated Rs 500 crore for on-going metro projects while Rs 1,000 crore for the newly-formed Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC). A whopping Rs 404 crore has been earmarked for underpasses/flyovers/elevated corridors in the city.
For rural infrastructure, the authority has secured Rs 192 crore and for farmers’ compensation it has announced to allocate Rs 1,300 crore. In order to minimise parking menace, the authority has earmarked Rs 220 crore and Rs 120 crore has been allocated for developing parks in the city.
“As Noida is located extremely close to the national Capital, the need of the hour is to provide a world class infrastructure. In view of this, the authority has decided to spend Rs 3,176 crore on infrastructure of the city. Metro rail between Noida and Greater Noida will prove to be a milestone in the growth of the region, we have prioritised the project. We are also looking for expansion of the existing Metro line from City Centre to Sector 62 and Kalindi Kunj to Botanical Garden,” said Rama Raman, Chairman and CEO of Noida Authority.
The Greater Noida Authority, which presented a budget of Rs 7,074 crore, announced to spend Rs 1,295 crore over infrastructural projects and Rs 3,700 crore for farmers’ compensation. For rural development, GNIDA has reserved Rs 210 crore. A total of Rs 25 crore has been allocated for the ambitious Night Safari project and Rs 10 crore for Heliport along the Yamuna Expressway in Jewar area. “As Greater Noida comprises rural parts, focus has been given to develop those areas first. The authority has also focused over education, health and scores of other sectors,” said Deepak Aggarwal, CEO of Greater Noida Authority.
The third industrial development authority of the district, YEIDA, too announced several infrastructure-related projects during its 155th board meeting on Monday. The authority has fixed expenditure of Rs 4,028.8 crore with key allocation of Rs 912 crore over infrastructure. Rs 1,500 core on land acquisition during the current fiscal year and Rs 60 crore for rural development.
The YEIDA has also presented a road map for developing its areas as per ‘Master plan 2021’. The authority said it is also keen to develop a new township on 20,000 hectare land with Metro connectivity under ‘Multi Model Transport System.’ It has also identified 100 acre land for an industrial hub. The authority has also planned to spend Rs 12,080 crore to ensure water supply, drainage and sewerage network before 2031 in its areas.
