Noida, Greater Noida gets 40 new PCR vans

In a major decision Noida and Greater Noida authorities have introduced a fleet of 40 new PCR vans to replace the old hired PCR fleet of Noida police.

'The entire fleet of 40 PCRs will now be replaced by a new fleet,' said Yogender Yadav, OSD, Greater Noida. The vehicles have been purchased jointly by both the authorities and each will get 20.

'Both the authorities have spent one crore each to purchase the new fleet,' added Yadav.

The authorities will also bear the cost of drivers and provide 30 litres of petrol per day to each vehicle for patrolling.

'The police patrolling will improve significantly with the induction of the new vehicles. They will be fitted with GPS system within a week,' said Preetinder Singh, senior superintendent of police (SSP), Noida, while flagging off the fleet.

For the past several years the authority was paying Rs 28 lakh per month to the transporter for operating 40 PCR vans in the area.
