Noida engineer Yadav Singh suspended

The move was announced after the noose was tightened by ED, SIT, IT department and recommendations made by the Noida Authority to the state government. It has also been cleared that a high level inquiry has been set up to unearth irregularities done by Singh and other officials in allotment of tenders and reports of wrong doing of few of them have also been sent by the authority to the state government. It may be noted that within hours of IT raids at hideouts of Singh and his accomplices last week, Rama Raman, Chairman of the authorities had relieved from the engineering department and was shunted to the personnel department. A notice has also been served to Yadav asking to report till Sunday but he has failed to comply till Monday evening.

Official spokesperson of the government informed media that after going through initial reports, it was decided to suspend Yadav Singh. “On the directives of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, engineer-in-chief has been suspended,” an official spokesman said in Lucknow adding that departmental inquiry has also been ordered against Yadav which would be conducted by the Chairman. Confirming the state government’s order, senior officials of the authority said that detailed probe is on and report will also be shared with ED, SIT and IT departments. Meanwhile, senior officials maintained silence over complicity of other babus in the multi crores scam.

As the matter was highlighted and central authorities asked the state government to share information the UP government swung into action with the announcement of suspension. Reviewing the case, SIT Chairman Justice (retd.) M B Shah and Vice-Chairman Justice (retd.) Arijit Pasayat had also held a meeting with CBDT officials led by Chairperson Anita Kapur and I-T officers from the investigations directorate in Lucknow who had carried out extensive raids in November on Singh’s premises and a number of companies with which his wife is believed to be associated with.

After the meeting, the SIT asked the Director General (I-T investigations) Lucknow to share information of this case with the ED so that Yadav could also be investigated under the criminal provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

It may be noted that IT teams had conducted raids on official and residential premises of Mcconn Infra Private Limited and Meenu Creations Private Limited at Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad on November 27.
