Noida cops launch drive to regulate errant auto drivers

Facing flak over sudden spurt in accident cases in Gautambudh Nagar district, the Noida Traffic Police have decided to come down heavily on errant drivers. The department has announced to start a special drive against traffic violators especially against over-speeding vehicles that cause accidents.
The department has decided to form special teams which will conduct the drive in various nook and corner of the district from next week. Presently, the department is conducting awareness drives for auto drivers. As per the plan, teams will be deployed on entry-exit points, key roads like Expressway, NH 24 and others too.
According to traffic officials, due to over speeding of the vehicles on major roads, incidents of accident are on the rise these days. The occupants of the vehicles, in order to overtake other vehicles, drive in high speed that proves fatal. Through the drive, such vehicles will be prosecuted as per the law and if major violation is detected, vehicles will be impounded too.
‘As we are conducting drives these days, our focus will be to prosecute over- speeding vehicles this time. During our one week drive, we will not only challan for over speeding but will also make them aware about road safety norms and safe driving,’ said an official of traffic police.
It may be noted that the traffic personnel, during its ongoing awareness drive for auto drivers, have seized more than 500 autos and challaned 1,500 autos in one week.
