As many as eleven candidates filed their nominations for Noida assembly bypolls on Wednesday, the last date for filing paper.
BJP nominee Bimla Batham, Congress candidate Rajendra Awana and Samajwadi Party’s Kajal Sharma and others filed nominations for the seat.
The by-election for the seat is scheduled on 13 September. All major parties except BSP and AAP have fielded their candidates.
The leaders of Congress, BJP and SP arrived with hundreds of supporters to file their nominations.
After filing the nomination, Batham addressed the supporters and appealed to them to root out ruling Samajwadi Party from the state. ‘The BJP will contest the election on the agenda of development,’ said Batham, while addressing her supporters.
Congress’ Awana, however, said that people should vote Congress as party works for lower section of society and believes in development of all sections of the society. With AAP and SP not in the fray, Noida assembly bypolls will see a three-way contest between BJP, SP and Congress.
This is the first time when BSP has decided not to field candidate which may lead consolidation of secular votes in favour of either SP or Congress.
