Noida authority to begin cleanliness drive

Noida Authority has announced certain measures to make the city garbage free. The authority officials said that a special drive would start <g data-gr-id="34">from from</g> July 4.

 Chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of Noida Authority, Rama Raman, said, “The authority has decided to conduct a massive drive for one month to clean the district”.

The CEO has directed all project engineers to clean the drains by June 30.

 The authority would unitise <g data-gr-id="27">work force</g> and machinery to remove garbage from the rural area of the district.  

“It will be a 15-day campaign in which we would require help from NGOs, schools, colleges, and industrialists to make the district clean and healthy,” the CEO said. 

He also added that a meeting would soon be held with the RWAs, gram <g data-gr-id="32">pradhans</g> and social <g data-gr-id="33">organisations</g> to explain the importance of this campaign.

 The authority is taking up measures to tackle <g data-gr-id="31">water logging</g> problems and will also remove building materials thrown on the roadside causing road blockage.

 An anti-encroachment drive would be conducted against vendors and <g data-gr-id="26">food-stall</g> owners who litter garbage in open areas. Dustbins will be kept at several places to dump garbage. 

“It will be made compulsory for all the hawkers to use dustbins of their own, if they do not follow the instructions, strict actions will be taken against them,” said additional CEO, Rajesh Prakash.

 Talking about the open garbage being carried on trucks and dumpers, Prakash said the authority would strictly follow the NGT directions, “Authority plans to issue challans of Rs 500 to Rs 2,000 to vehicles carrying uncovered garbage” , he said.
