Noida authority plans to build four underpasses to ease traffic

In a move to de-congest roads between Noida Stadium and Noida City Centre to ensure smooth vehicular movement, Noida Authority has decided to construct four underpasses on every crossing of the stretch.

The authority, after going through the feasibility report, said that the detailed project reports (DPRs) are in final stage and construction work will be started before the end of the year.

The officials said that the four underpasses will be constructed to provide signal free movement of vehicles between Sector 12 to Sector 49 at DSC Road and Sector 12 to Sector 36. Each four-lane underpass will be around 600-meter long and a total of Rs 175 crore will be spent on them which will be borne by the authority itself.

As per the plan, the first underpass will come up at Adobe crossing between Sector 12 and NTPC at the cost of Rs 42 crore. The construction work is likely to start in one month and the entire work is expected to be completed within 18-month period. While the second underpass will be constructed between National Labour Institute and Sector 35 with the cost Rs 45 crore, The third underpass is proposed at Spice mall crossing on the road that connects Noida Stadium to Sector 31.

The 550-meter long underpass will be constructed at the cost Rs 40 crore. Commuters coming from Sectors 21, 21-A, 25, 25-A and others will be directly benefited once it will be operational. The fourth underpass is proposed near Nithari T-point with the cost Rs 45 crore.

‘As the vehicular volume is increasing by leaps and bounds, the need of the hour is to construct underpasses on this route. This move is also aimed at making the roads signal-free and the underpasses will cater to smooth flow of traffic, especially during the peak hours. The road near proposed underpasses will be widened before the construction is taken up. This will be done to facilitate vehicular movement,’ said a senior official of Noida authority.
