Noida authority frees one lakh sqm of land

The Noida Authority, on Tuesday freed about one lakh square metres of land from encroachers during its ongoing anti-encroachment drive.

Significantly, the drive was conducted on notified land in the city region this time. The authority reclaimed land worth more than Rs 100 crore from the land grabbers. According to the authority officials, more than 12 lakh square metres of land have been freed during the past two weeks, in and around the city.

The officials also claimed the drive will continue in coming days as major chunk of land have been eaten up by the land sharks.

Following the direction of Noida Authority Chairman and CEO Rama Raman, the drive was conducted in Salarpur and Sarfabad villages respectively.

Hundreds of illegal establishments and hoarding were razed during the early morning raid by Noida Authority and police.

It may be noted that after media reports against land encroachment, the chairman had reiterated that the authority will come down heavily on land mafia who have not only grabbed the government’s land illegally but are selling people by hiding the facts. The CEO also warned to initiate penal action against the squatters.
