The authority has announced of the finalisation of the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) by the end of this month and the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) within the next six months and if things go well, the construction works should be finished within the next three to four years.
The authority officials said that with the commencement of the projects, commuting across the two cities — Greater Noida West (Noida Extension) and Greater Noida will become easier. Notably, the authorities are already working on the two metro projects, of which, one will connect Noida to Greater Noida.
As per the plan, the first route will be extended from Noida’s Sector 71 and will go to Knowledge Park V in Greater Noida via Noida Extension, Noida’s Sector 122, Sector 123, Greater Noida’s Sector 2,3 4, 10 and Ecotech 12 . The extent of the proposed stretch will be 11 kilometres. The second proposed route will be of 16.5 kilometres, which will be an extension of the Janakpuri West-Botanical Garden line, starting from Kalindi Kunj to Sector 143. An amount of Rs 5,500 crore will be spent, which will be borne by the authorities.
The authority officials informed that The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is preparing the DPR. The proposal will be passed in the board meeting first, followed by Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) and then the state government.
Once the government gives the nod, MoU will be signed by the DMRC. “We have started working on the projects and will hopefully finish the work in scheduled time,” said GP Singh, executive director, NMRC.
