NOC must for wine shops in east Delhi

Civic authorities have made it mandatory for people to acquire a no objection certificate from resident welfare associations, police and area councillor before opening new wine shops in east Delhi.

'The wine shops are mushrooming along the roads which have been
notified for mixed use. The residents in these areas open wine or meat
shops at the ground floor or basements which spells trouble for residents of the area,' said Sanjay Kaushik, member of the standing committee who moved
the resolution.

The issue received unexpected support from Congress councillor and leader of opposition in Delhi assembly Varyam Kaur. 'These customers on these wine shops harass girls and women of the area. They used to drink wine on nearby fruit juice shops and parks,' said Kaur.

She also said that meat shops are causing trouble as dogs gather around them and chase the passersby and customers. Such shops must be at a corner and away from residential areas as much as possible.
