Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party state unit president Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday said that his party was against installation of statue any living person as it was against the principles of Samajwad.
‘The party is clear in its stand. It never wants installation of busts or statue or even construction of temples of any person who is still alive. We have always criticised this policy and would continue to do so,’ Yadav said.
He said the SP will disallow any party worker, who would be planning to construct temple or statue of any senior party leader out of love for his leader, he clarified. Notably, a SP worker of Aligarh, Rajesh Saini, had announced to make and install the bust of party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav at a city temple. They party worker had even said that he was doing all this out of love and respect for his leader.
‘I do not know who is making bust or temple of Netaji (read Mulayam Singh Yadav). But I will appeal to him not to do so,’ he said.
Re-iterating his government’s concern for the farmers, the CM said that the state government will keep up its promise of waiving-off Rs 1650 crore loans of the cultivators. Yadav claimed that his government was making constant efforts to provide adequate facilities to the farmers.
In reply to another question, he said that SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav will take the final call, if voting takes place in Lok Sabha over FDI issue.
Earlier, the CM paid floral tributes to party leader Ramashankar Kaushik on his fourth death anniversary at the party’s state headquarters.
